Our mission is to educate, encourage, support, and collaborate with people, businesses, schools, public- and private sectors, to support the measures and decision process and adopt more climate and environmentall friendly habits with an emphasis on sustainable development.
We strive for a society of interdependent people living in dignity, wholeness, and fulfillment with respect for justice and the rights of humans, animals, and the environment. A society built on the sovereignty, integrity, and participation of the people as a whole with a fundament on social, economic, gender, and environmental justice and be free from all forms of domination and exploitation. We believe, because of the genuine works we do, that the future of our children will be better.
Our Founders
The AURAE OPUS foundation, established on 15 Augustus 2019 in Paramaribo, Suriname, is a non-governmental organization focusing on delivering services to the public regarding climate, environment, sustainable development, sustainable living, and education. The founders of Aurae Opus are Sukarni Mitro and Nuravni Sallons.

To educate, encourage, support, and collaborate with people, communities, companies, organizations and schools in taking measures and decisions to practice climate and environmentally friendly habits in the broadest sense with the aim of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Sukarni Mitro
Sukarni is the chairwoman and founder of Aurae Opus. She holds a Master's degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados, in Natural Resource and Environmental Management specialized in Climate Change. Additionally, she has her Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the People. She has more than 35 years of experience in climate, climatology, and climate change and led the Meteorological Service Suriname from 2015 – 2021. Besides, she has more than 15 years of experience teaching Physics at the secondary school and lecturing Environmental Physics at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname.

Nuravni Sallons
Nuravni is very passionate about nature and the environment. She has a Bachelor's degree (BSc.) in Environmental Management from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Her dedicated mission is to preserve nature and the environment, and therefore she adopted a vegan lifestyle to contribute to that goal. From a young age on she has been advocating for sustainability, climate & the youth and has represented Suriname on different platforms in the past few years. As the Founder, treasurer and environmental manager of Aurae Opus, her expertise is writing business and project plans with a vision for a better future. With her commitment she always reached the intended goals when projects are under her management and supervision.“I believe that I have a mission to accomplish on earth. Therefore, I am going to leave behind a sustainable legacy for my descendants and the future generations.”

Etto Zerp
Etto is a Technical Officer with more than 40 years of experience at the Meteorological Service Suriname in maintaining and installation of meteorological instruments. Besides, he is well experienced in teaching Meteorological instruments and maintenance at the secondary school.
